The venerable kit of the Junkers J.1 from 2003 will be well known – at least to us „older modellers“!
Long since then vanished from the market it was sold via online-marketplaces at prices well beyond the average modeller´s wallets!
Thankfully, EDUARD has now re-released this kit in it´s „ProfiPack“-series with all the goodies associated with these editions …

The Junkers J.1 was one of the most robust „Schlachtflugzeuge“ (Close air support) of World War I. Introduced in the summer of 1917, it reached a maximum speed of 155 km/h with it´s powerful (at least in those days!) engine of 200 hp – a considerable achievement these days for an aircraft weighting nearly 2200 Kg!
Looking inside the box we are greated by a lot of parts and accessories:

All the parts are well reproduced and do feature perfect details – let´s start with the fuselage inside and out:
The typical Junkers metal structure is well reproduced:
The same goes for the three different rudders:

The propeller is cast well, although one should take care of the prop-boss:
Maybe an ABER photoetched boss will further enhance it!

Of course you do get a photoetch-fret:
Especially the MG´s cooling jacket and ammunition chute will be enhanced dramatically by these parts.

Those modellers wishing to build all four Versions are well catered by EDUARDS own „OVERTREE“-edition:
A simple and plain cardboard box, no decals, no manual and no photoetch – but at an unbeatable price!
Concerning the actual dimensions in comparison to the kit itself I am dare to say that EDUARD did get it nearly spot-on:
Wing span: 15,0 meters (= 208,3 mm in 1:72; Kit: 210mm)
Care should be taken concerning the wing span: Some sources quote a wing span of 16,0 meters (=222 mm) – this would make Eduards wing span 12 mm too short!
(Frankly, I will trust Eduard´s measurement!)
