Czech manufacturer EDUARD never ceases to surprise us modellers with unexpected new kits – in the 1990s Eduard produced a kit of the Siemens-Schuckert SSW D.III in Quarterscale and everyone would have expected to see this kit reboxed with new decals.
But „NO!“ – it is a totally new-tooled kit …
We all have been through this: „I will never buy a new kit unless I have built all the kits in my stash!“
Ok: Eduard´s announcement of a brand-new SSW D.III made me forget everything I had promised myself …
To clear the path: This new kit has NOTHING to do with Eduards kit from the 1990s – it is a completely new design!
You do get two dark grey sprues with all the plastic parts necessary – quality is really good and you will not find ejector-pin marks, sink-marks or flash in awkward places!
On the contrary: You do get finely engraved surfaces, finely cast details – simply take a look at these rib-structures on the wings: Simply superb!
• SSW D.III Jasta 4, Lt Ernst Udet, Metz, Okt 1918
• SSW D.III 1618/18, Jasta 85, Lt. Heinrich Dembrowsky, Schaffenhausen, Nov 1918
• SSW D.III Jasta 15, Chery-les-Pouilly, Jul 1918
• SSW D.III 1626/18, Kest 4b, VzFw Reimann, Sep1918
• SSW D.III 3025/18, Trier, Dez 1918 – Jan 1919
Having waited for this kit to be released I definitely wasn´t disappointed: The quality of every single part of the box´ content is superd and I am really looking forward building the Siemens-Schuckert – the most problematic thing will be choosing a version!
